M.R.S. Italia is a company that has specialized for over thirty years in the design and manufacture of high-precision screws and plasticizing cylinders. To maintain the quality of its CNC machining and the reliability of its processes, the company needed a filtration system that would combine coolant stability with effective oil mist management.

The existing system no longer provided the desired reliability: fluctuating levels of contamination in the bath, downtime for maintenance, complex sludge management, and room conditions that could be improved.

The goal of the project was not simply to replace a filter, but to designan integrated CNC filtration systemcapable of:

Integrated System Architecture

Self-cleaning main filter

At the heart of the system is the self-cleaning filter Spin 1100, which ensures continuous and reliable filtration without consumable filter media.
With a flow rate of500 l/min, a permanentAISI 304 stainless steelfilter screen, and a filtration rating of50 µm on average, the Spin a stable level of coolant contamination even as the particulate load varies.

Magnetic separator

Upstream of the fine filtration stage, theKalamit500 magnetic separator, made of AISI 304 stainless steel, continuously removes ferrous particles, thereby reducing the load on the drum filter.
This step improves the overall quality of the process fluid and reduces wear on CNC machine tools, increasing process stability over time.

Sludge Management

The sludge collected by the filtration system is fed into a sludge-pressing screw conveyor, which recovers up to80% of the liquidtrapped in the processing sludge.

2,600-liter cooling tank with oil separator

The2,600-liter cooling tank, made of reinforced carbon steel and featuring a sloped bottom, directs the sludge toward the collection points, preventing buildup and dead zones.
